BIM & Navisworks
Linking the construction programme to the BIM model creates a 4D simulation — showing not just what will be built, but when, in what sequence, and how it fits in the space available. Deltime uses Navisworks and Synchro to integrate programme and model, delivering sequence visualisation, clash detection, and logistics planning that adds real value on complex projects.
4D Programme Linking
Deltime links activities in Primavera P6 or Asta Power Project directly to model elements in Navisworks or Synchro — creating a 4D simulation that animates the construction sequence. Each activity drives the appearance, modification, or disappearance of model components, giving a visual representation of the planned build sequence.
Navisworks TimeLiner
Navisworks TimeLiner is Deltime's primary tool for 4D simulation on projects where the model is provided in NWC, NWD, or federated IFC format. Tasks are imported directly from the P6 or Asta schedule, attached to model selection sets, and animated to produce a construction sequence video or interactive simulation.
Synchro 4D
For projects requiring more sophisticated programme-model integration — including resource loading, site logistics, and real-time progress updating — Deltime uses Synchro 4D. Synchro allows live programme updates to be reflected in the model environment and produces high-quality visualisation outputs for client and stakeholder presentations.
Clash Detection
Before a 4D simulation is finalised, Deltime runs clash detection analysis in Navisworks to identify hard clashes, soft clashes, and clearance issues between structural, MEP, and architectural model elements. Clash reports are produced for the design team, with clashes categorised by severity and assigned for resolution.
Construction Logistics Planning
4D simulation is particularly valuable for planning construction logistics — crane positions, temporary works, access routes, and phasing sequences — in constrained urban sites where conflicts between activities can cause significant delay. Deltime uses the 4D model to identify and resolve logistics conflicts before they occur on site.
Stakeholder Visualisation
A 4D sequence video communicates the construction plan to clients, planning authorities, neighbours, and non-technical stakeholders far more effectively than a Gantt chart. Deltime produces presentation-quality sequence animations for project launches, planning submissions, and client review meetings.
